Due to the letter received today form Zurich Insurance?s solicitors that they are concerned we are publishing their employee?s names on this web site we have taken the action of removing them.

Introduction
2008, we have again started another new year with still no conclusion and no end in sight into sorting our claim.

Over the course of the following months I will be updating this website with details as they happen on the progress of our claim, telephone calls, correspondents and meetings listing all details and time scales given.
This way you can come to your own conclusions on whether buildings warranty insurance is worth the hassle and if in fact it can be a deciding factor on buying a new house and who the builder is supplying the building warranty insurance.

When you buy a new home, you need 10-year warranty cover to get a mortgage and to sell the house on.  This is provided to the homeowner by the builder/developer.  Mortgage lenders insist upon having this key protection before releasing mortgage funds.

I can only comment on my own experience with Zurich Building Insurance Guarantee, but by having this web site will show any potential house buyers that they cannot rely on this insurance as a do all and end all in the event of a claim, and in no way should it be a deciding factor on buying a new house, I remember saying when buying this house “at least we won’t have any worries for 10 years” how wrong could I be!

You may be saying to yourself it won’t happen to me the builders who are building my house are really nice and friendly, the sales negotiator is really nice and always make me a coffee and has told me in the unlikely event any problems do come up we sort them straight away and you always have a 10 year warranty to fall back on, well we were told all of this but our builder never did come back in to the property to sort out our issues, they don’t have to! This is why you have a 10 year warranty, even though it states on your policy the first 2 years are the builder’s responsibility the builder does not have to honour this.

So when that sales negotiator makes that coffee they are only doing there job, they are not your friend, ask them when a problem arises what is there procedure in solving problems also ask them has there been any problems on the site, if there has, ask for the address and go and have a talk with the house purchaser to see how the issues were dealt with, most people will accommodate and tell you.
Buying your house may be the one most stressful experience of your life and also the most expensive so don’t get sucked into the whole sales procedure, once you’re in that house and you do have problems you need to know that you have a good insurance warranty to cover you.

The object of this web site is to put pressure onto the insurance companies and the builders that in the event of a claim they can’t just ignore the issues hoping they will go away, the longer the builder or insurance company make the claim last the less the customer will want rectifying as this is exactly what is happening at the moment.
My family and I have put our life on hold now for over 5 years waiting to get this claim sorted, so when buying that house imagine just for 5 minutes what it would be like to have your privacy invaded as workmen keep on coming back in to sort outstanding issues that should have been resolved before you moved in, or worse having to move out whilst major work is undertaken. I have just taken a phone call from another family that had to move out of their property for 3 years whilst their house was rebuilt, so they had 3 years of paying for a house that they couldn''t even live in and having to live in rented accommodation how fair is that?
These insurance and building companies should make every effort into sorting out problems immediately and not make their customers wait.
I have already had correspondence from the media asking if they could do an article on our circumstances with our property but have held back, but maybe this is what the industry needs is to show people what actually goes on if they need to make a claim, the builders and insurance companies do need a wakeup call as we being their customers should have a right to a better service than are currently receiving.
